Fordite Heart Pendant.

Fordite, Detroit City Agate or Motor City Agate.

These are all the names given to this amazing concoction that makes up this heart. What a story this statement piece has to offer!

This stunning heart is not actually a stone but is excess paint that used to build up on the spray painting tracks in the old Ford Motor Car Factories in Detroit. Pre 1980's all of the car panels were hand sprayed & moved along a belt until the whole system was changed in the 1980's & this lovely heart started its life in the Chrysler factory on Dodge Main in Detroit City. I have hung it on a double row of leather, which is 40cm in total length, with stainless steel rings on either side for effect.

These are getting harder to find because the whole process was changed after the 80's & most of the factories have now sadly shut down.
