1979 Australian 1 Cent Coin Earrings.

These lovely earrings are just so uniquely Australian. What a year 1979 was in Australia. The end of the 1970's & moving into the 1980's marked a real change in the music we listened to (Australian bands were gaining popularity here & overseas. Live music was at its peak) the cars we drove, the freedom we felt & the introduction for many of us to the first computers. Australia officially stopped minting these coins in 1990 & they were progressively removed from circulation starting in 1992.

These are set in a sterling silver frame, on handcrafted sterling silver hooks & the coins are made from copper. The diameter of these lovely earrings is 18mm.
